Securing a competitive government or institutional scholarship is a major achievement, but many students mistakenly assume funding continues automatically throughout their degree. In reality, almost all central and state scholarship programs—including National Scholarship Portal (NSP) schemes, state post-matric schemes, and private corporate trusts—require a formal Annual Renewal Application. Missing the narrow annual renewal window or failing to maintain academic thresholds results in permanent cancellation of the award.
Most scholarship guidelines mandate that beneficiaries pass all subjects in their progressive annual examinations without active backlogs, typically maintaining a minimum of 50% to 60% aggregate marks. If you have re-evaluation requests pending, alert your Institute Nodal Officer (INO) immediately before the portal closes.
Government revenue income certificates are legally valid for only one financial year (ending March 31). Never upload an expired income certificate from your initial first-year admission. Secure a freshly issued certificate from your Tehsildar or SDM office well ahead of portal opening dates.
Download the standard Bonafide Certificate template from your scholarship portal. Have it physically signed and stamped by your College Principal, Dean, or Head of Department, explicitly certifying your roll number, ongoing academic year, and that you are not under academic suspension.
A scholarship cannot be credited to a dormant account. Execute at least one nominal deposit or withdrawal every 6 months, verify that your account has no transaction limit caps, and ensure your account remains actively mapped on the NPCI Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB).
| Stage | Action Required by Student | Deadline Sensitivity |
|---|---|---|
| Student Online Submission | Log in using existing Application ID; update marks, upload documents, and submit. | Typically October – November annually. |
| Institute Verification (INO) | Physically submit document copies to your college scholarship cell. | Within 15 days of online submission. |
| District / State Push | Monitor dashboard weekly for 'Defective' notices and correct immediately. | December – January annually. |
On portals like NSP, do not create a fresh registration if you are a continuing student; doing so creates a duplicate record that triggers automated fraud rejection. Use the "Recover Application ID" or "Forgot Password" links using your registered mobile number, original high school roll number, or bank account number.
