Physics · MOTION IN A PLANE
हिन्दीGiven below are two statements: one is labelled as Assertion (A) and the other is labelled as Reason (R). Assertion (A): In uniform circular motion, the acceleration vector of the body is not constant even though its magnitude remains constant. Reason (R): The direction of centripetal acceleration continuously changes as it always points towards the center of the circular path. In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below:
Correct answer · Option 1
Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
Explanation
A vector changes when either magnitude or direction changes. In UCM, magnitude of acceleration is constant (\( v^2/R \)), but its direction continuously rotates to remain pointing towards the center. Thus acceleration vector is non-constant.
