Grammar Rules — Direct & Indirect Speech

Imperative Sentences express commands, requests, advice, or suggestions (आदेश, निवेदन या सलाह वाले वाक्य।). Said/Said to changes to ordered, requested, advised, or suggested.

Connective Rule: Use "to" before the main verb of reported speech to join the clauses (Connective word "to" का प्रयोग करें।). e.g., "Go out" -> to go out.

Negative Imperatives: For "don't", change connective to "not to" or use the reporting verb "forbade" (मना करने के लिए "not to" या "forbade" का उपयोग करें।). e.g., "Don't run" -> told not to run | forbade to run.

Practice Examples — वाक्य संरचना उदाहरण

The teacher said, "Stand up." | The teacher ordered to stand up. (command)
Rohan said, "Please help me." | Rohan requested to help him. (request)
He said, "Don't waste time." | He advised not to waste time.
