HTML Entities and Symbols

By Ratan Updated: 16 Oct 2026

Display reserved HTML characters, currency symbols, and mathematical operators safely.

Level: Beginner to Advanced
Duration: ~60 Mins Deep-Dive

1. Why HTML Entities?

In HTML, certain characters are reserved for code syntax (such as <, >, and &). If you write them directly in text, the browser mistakes them for markup tags. An HTML Entity is a code string that displays reserved or invisible characters safely on screen.

2. Common HTML Character Entities

Character Description Entity Name Entity Number
< Less than < <
> Greater than > >
& Ampersand & &
" Double quote " "
© Copyright symbol © ©
  Non-breaking space
₹ Indian Rupee Symbol N/A ₹

If x < 10 && y > 5, then display the question palette.
